Golf trousers and shorts: fit, fabric, and season
Golf trousers are the garment you notice first when they are wrong: tight in the lunge, soaked at the hem, or flapping in the wind. Here is how to choose.

Four-way stretch
The golf swing rotates the hips while the feet stay planted. Without stretch in both directions the trousers slow that rotation.
Test it in the shop: drop into a kneeling position. If it pulls across the thigh, it gets worse after four hours.
Trousers or shorts?
In Scandinavia trousers are the default and shorts the exception, June through August, and on warm trips.
Shorts should end just above the knee. Shorter sits badly in the lunge, longer gets heavy in damp.
Water and wind resistance
A water-repellent finish is enough for morning dew and drizzle, which is most of what Nordic golf delivers.
Avoid cotton: wet cotton turns cold and will not dry before the round ends.
Pockets and details
Two deep side pockets and one secured back pocket is enough. Tees and a ball should not fall out in the car.
Pick a color that works with all your polos, and every combination becomes wearable.
